    Steam Big Picture

So I'm home for the holidays and headed over to my BFF's house to hang out. He recently bought a big ass plasma (55") which looked awesome. He's a PC gamer, and we were hanging out when I said I wanted to see how 3D looked on his tv, since I hadn't seen 3D on a normal tv before. So he boots up Steam big picture mode, which is supposed to be like a console-ized version of Steam for those who play their PC games in the living room off a tv instead of a typical desk setup, and with a controller instead of kb/m.

I was really blown away by it. Most new games automatically support a 360 controller and change the display in game to controller buttons. For example, in GTA IV for PC it would typically show on the screen "Press E to enter a vehicle", but when a controller is plugged in and in big picture mode it instead says "Press X to enter a vehicle" so you don't have to remember how the controls change.

If this takes off more than it has, I could see myself skipping next gen consoles. Having both a PC and console feel in one system is very attractive. The *only* thing that would be hard to pass up is game exclusivity.

Yeah, you can't skip a console.
You will always have to have both if you're serious about playing today's hottest action titles.

Like, let's see your Steam Blowfish app run MGS4.

    Exactly.

As a hardcore gaming enthusiast, I always make sure I'm running the latest in hardware to support AAA titles like Angry Birds Star Wars, and Fruit Ninja 2 (sequel to Fruit Ninja 1). Currently I've got an octa-core, 16gb Ram, SSD, 2GB GPU to run these titles. Flawless performance at LAN parties I frequent.

I thought Fruit Ninja 2 was the sequel to Battletanx: Global Assault

It is, but I got the 'Premium Edition' sequel which is an entirely different game. #preorderbonushellasweetbro
