View Full Version : If Bob Barr gets the Libertarian Party nomination I won't vote for him

Some of you may have heard about this former congressman running for the LP nomination in the news. He's CIA, he voted for the PATRIOT Act and Iraq War, he helped write the Defense of Marriage Act, and he was a big war on drugs supporter. He now has supposedly reformed his positions but his positions on his website are wishy-washy libertarianism at best...

He's less libertarian than Ron Paul and he's running for the Libertarian Party nomination...

I have to admit that I have not thoroughly researched him but I did watch a few youtube videos...he definitely seems like a phony and I see what you mean. I also hope he doesn't win, but I havn't really been following what the other options are for the Libertarian Party...it doesn't seem too promising, though.

Both are pretty much unknowns but both have very libertarian positions and have been involved in the LP for a very long time. Neither will get more than the obligatory 400k standard LP vote total, but I'd rather see that than 1 million votes for a non-libertarian LP nominee.

If Barr ends up the nominee I'll be voting for Chuck Baldwin who is the Constitution Party nominee. As much as I hate a lot of the CP platform Baldwin (who has backed Paul for a long time) has a much more libertarian platform than Barr.

Well, Barr ended up with the nomination and Ruwart finished second. Kubby ran for the VP slot and got second so it ended up being Barr/Root.

It's the most epically fail LP ticket ever. Sure it might get the most votes but you might as well just just change the name of the party to Disgruntled Republican Party instead of the Libertarian Party. I followed this crap all day today just to be disapointed. MEH!
