Nader is in the race (http://thirdpartywatch.com/2008/02/24/nader-is-in-the-race/)
Ralph Nader declared his intention to seek the Presidency this morning on Meet the Press, blasting McCain, Clinton and Obama as candidates that are refusing to discuss or address issues that the majority of American Citizens want such as single payer universal health care, reigning in a wasteful and bloated Defense budget, and taking “Corporate Occupied” Washington DC back for the American people.
Through his website, votenader.org (http://www.votenader.org/), he said he intends to develop Congressional watchdog groups 1,000 strong in each Congressional District and build a movement for the people.
On the “spoiler” issue, Nader noted that if the Democrats can’t pull a landslide victory over John McCain and the Republicans this year above all then they should just pack up and go home.
Nader made no mention of whether he was seeking the Green Party nomination or an Independent bid for the Presidency, however in earlier interviews with Democracy Now he has said that if he were to run he would seek “Green Party ballot lines” as well as run with other third parties or as an Independent in other states if necessary.

I may vote for him as well. I need to see who the Libertarian and Constitution parties run first...

What are the other choices we have?
1. Hillary: experienced, corporatist and socialist (how the hell does that work?)
2. McCain: Relies on his war record (even though he was far from a military hero). Would possibly spend more then Bush...ugh.
3. Obama: no experience, no ideas, virtually a nothing candidate who leans incredibly socialist. Basically, if he's ever elected I'm moving to the PRC.

I voted for Nadar in 2000......
It's interesting their is such this red scare of communism in a time where the values shown that we are told in the media we need to embrace are failing on a monumental level. Instead of blaming those at fault we say: "Well anything new would be bad based on faith of what we think." We have been wrong for about 7 years, I think drastic change would be a drastic improvement. I may vote for Nader again as long as McCain has no shot at winning. I used to like McCain honestly in 2000, but seeing what he has said about the war lately has made me think he's lost his mind.

Don't know who else will run, the Greens, Libertarians, and Constitution Parties haven't had their nomination conventions yet. I have a feeling Nader will have trouble getting on ballots like he did in 2004. I'm guessing he will run on the Reform Party in some states, Greens in some (I doubt he will get the actual parties nomination, or even campaign for it), and some obscure 3rd parties or Independent in states where it's actually possible to do so, and he will only be a write-in in a few states. He struggled in 2004. I think he got 3rd just barely more than Badnarik the Libertarian nominee with less than 0.5% of the vote.

Clarification: He isn't seeking the Green Party nomination this year. Therefore he will be as irrelevent as he was in 2004 and will not break 1%. He will be absent on many state ballots.

Ralph Nader to announce VP (http://thirdpartywatch.com/2008/02/27/ralph-nader-to-announce-vp/)
Ralph Nader will be announcing his Vice Presidential running mate Thursday Feb. 28 at a noon press conference and speech (http://www.votenader.org/media/2008/02/27/nader-to-announce-vp/).
Washington, D.C. —Ralph Nader will announce his Vice Presidential running mate at a press conference in downtown Washington, D.C. at noon on Thursday, February 28, 2008. Nader and his Vice Presidential running mate will both deliver speeches later in the day at George Washington University, followed by a Q and A.
The title of the speech will be “Global Corporate States and the Destruction of Democratic Movements.” (GWU, 1957 E Street, N.W. Harry Harding Auditorium, Room 213, Admission $2. For more information on the GWU event, contact: 202-441-5727)
There have also been subtle hints from people associated with the Nader campaign that within the week (possibly at the press conference tomorrow) that it should be clear what strategy Nader will be pursuing vis a vis the Green Party and its 20+ (and growing) ballot lines.
According to this piece (http://blogs.gwhatchet.com/newsroom/2008/02/27/nader-to-speak-at-gw-tommorow/) in the GW Hatchett:
He is scheduled to reveal the name of the candidate several hours earlier at noon in the National Press Club. “The press conference is the actual announcement, and the event at GW is basically the VP running mate’s coming out party,” said Chris Driscoll, interim media director for the campaign. He added they are anticipating about 300 people to attend, mostly local residents.
“The event is mainly for the public to come see our VP running mate,” he said. Both Nader and the vice presidential candidate will give speeches.
Speculation on whom Nader may be selecting as his running mate may begin…now!
