Meh is all I could say. A dying president gasping for his last breath on talking on Iraq. I thought Bush had gotten more moderate, mentioning bipartisanship, mentioning skin cells that could imitate stem cells, then talking on significant impact of global warming. Then around 40 or 50 minutes he goes into Iraq and how since 9/11 we need to defeat the terrorists and win. I don't even know what winning is to Bush or the GOP. Is it killing everyone left in the Mid East and establishing a completely puppet government for oil franchises? Is it Iraq will vote for what it wants and have no civil unrest? Or is it they start flying a flag of the US from every house. Whenever you ask someone, and I am actually not being sarcastic at all..... Most people have no idea what winning is, they just trust the government to let them know at some point. A representative body should be accountable to the people, not the other way around. I think some people aren't getting that lately.
I do know so far they have changed command a lot and when Bush mentions listening to the commanders he ignored them for a longer time than anyone and kept Rumsfeld in office till the DNC won in 2006 and most of the military periodicals asked for Rumsfeld's resignation. I think it an almost embarrassing attribute these days that smart hard working Americans are forced to shut up so dumb people that rarely read about the world or elections can say how things are going and we should be in Iraq with no idea what winning is but can say: "It's complicated". I guess what I'm saying is I'm hoping the country can come more together based on helping, not F U about everything. Here's to 2008 being better.
