So who's ready to see politicians talk about gay marriage, flag burning, evolution and so on?

You know, the things that really matter. Not the pesky stuff about war, skyrocketing medical costs, illiteracy and so on.

The debt may be high, but it's not even close to GDP.

2006 US GDP: $13.16 trillion
US Liabilities: $59.1 trillion (includes medicare, social security, federal debt, military benefits, state and local, etc)

59.1/13.16 = 4.5. (I was wrong, it is 4.5 times)

fact is, something needs to change quickly or a massive collapse will happen.

I haven't played GDP 5. I thought GDP was the bomb though. Best game ever.
