Why would we have to choose impeach him or leave troops in Iraq? We have a government that can do more than one thing at once. So lets do more than one thing at once.
Honestyly, I'm looking forward to January with some of the things I see on the horizon.

Once I see the government competantly handle ONE thing at a time, I'll start to believe they can handle 2. Seriously, though, just look at the clinton impeachment for an indication on how it'd slow everything down and muddy the issues.
I'm all for impeaching the president, but I think thats the last item on a long list of shit that needs doing. The democrats should consider impeachment to be like dessert. Once they get some progress made on the economy and Iraq(Read: Eat your fucking Vegetables!), then they can impeach the president(Read: Mmmmmm, Pie!).
Thats just my thought's anyway. I would rather they spend their time actually making life better for the average american citizen. Sure, they COULD work on both at the same time, but they would end up focusing primarily on one or the other.
I just want to see some actual improvement in quality of life. I've seen enough partisan bickering in the last 6 years to last a while. Lets just get things done...

Incoming Democrats have been preparing bills to kick lobbyists out of Washington DC, to greatly reduce troops in Iraq, subpoena and more thoroughly investigate wartime spending, to undo at least parts of the Military Commisions act signed into law last month, removing John Bolton as UN ambassador, and also for impeachment among other things.
The Clinton impeachment took up so much time because it was over something pretty ridiculous. There have been past impeachments that went much smoother. I also think it's important to show that this country won't tolerate our leaders lying to us.

I hope Bush DOES get impeached. I just don't think it should be the priority. The Democrats may have a big agenda, but they only have the slimmest of slim majorities. If they want to override a presidential veto, they're gonna need 2/3, and they don't have it.
Currently the president has signaled that he may be willing to compromise on certain issues. Start impeachment proceedings and you may find that offer dry up, and then find cheney in the white house when all is said and done.
My preference? They should do everything they can, now, to get this country headed in the right direction again. Once that is thoroughly underway, or once the president starts to heavily impede the process(likely to happen eventually), start impeachment proceedings.

As far as I am aware, only one president besides Clinton was successfully impeached, ever.

Blah blah blah... You're angry. I get it. I'm angry about it too.
I think it's really a matter of priorities, though. Do we spend the next 2 years improving the situation, or do we spend the next 2 years pointing fingers while MORE of our soldiers die? To me the choice seems obvious.
Maybe some indictments will stick after his 2 years run up and he's out of office. I wouldn't be suprised if something shows up eventually. Really, though, I don't think anyone wants to see Dick Cheney OR Nancy Pelosi get sworn in as president.
I'm sorry but I can't take you seriously if you think the democrats are actually trying to improve the situation in Iraq.

Pres. Clinton was impeached, Pres. Andrew Johnson was impeached, after those two presidents judges, senators and cabinet membershave also been impeached. Most went relatively smoothly.
Anyways, I'm happy so far with this new congress. Lobbyists are being told to piss off and they are going to work on their various campaign promises. I'm particularly happy with laws designed to eliminate earmarking and so on.
