....and the democrats take the Rhode Island Senate seat!
That means they have picked up 3 senate seats out of the 6 they need to claim a majority
So that takes the republicans to 52,
+Vermont, and possibly Maryland puts: Indeps 2- Dems 48- Reps-50

Not sure where you're getting that number. I see that it's currently:
Republicans: 46
Democrats: 45

Well I'm basing that on everything else stays the same i.e.- on the 109th congress apart from the ones that have shifted- so if you take the three from the reps and give them to the dems, and also take Vermont from the reps and make it independent- then you end up on 50, 48, 2

Has anyone else noticed that Mark Foley is still staying competitive in his house race??? I thought he resigned! He was actually ahead a few minutes ago, and now he's back to trailing by a few percentage points.
WTF florida???

Tell me about it, I was completely amazed they voted for Bush strongly in 2004, after he "won by 537" in 2000

I'd say they're about 8 candidates away in actuality. Still, I think they'll probably get those 8 seats...
EDIT: Make that 7 more seats; they just took control of another.

They're probably counting connecticut 05 in that number. I can't say I really blame them. It DOES look like they're gonna take it.
