I agree with outsider on this one completely. If you want to bitch about him you should go do it in one of the OT threads about it.

I really don't know what, if anything should be done to Materazzi. Is there any way to prove what he said? Doubtful. Even if there were, what can FIFA do about it now? Maybe fine him?

Recieving the nastiest headbutt ever televised in front of 50% of the civilized world wasn't enough punishment?

Good point.

Seriously though, what would be the big punishment?

The dude got headbutted all to hell, knocked the FUCK down, and is probably still sore. Not to mention that this happened when the highest number of people ever watching one thing at the same time were looking right him.

Do you plan to do worse to him? Maybe a bare-ass flogging in the town square? How about we send him to Gitmo for a few years?

I think the dude learned his lesson just like any small child learns a lesson. If you don't learn to keep your mouth shut at times, you will eventually get knocked the fuck out.

I guess there really is no proof that Materazzi said something bad. There is no proof that he didnt. Unless Zidane is a heartless monster, which I dont think he is...unless someone can prove otherwise...I dont think he did that headbutt just for the hell of it. He must have been provoked. Words were exchanged between the 2.

Anyways...whats done is done.

In the replays you can see his lips moving, there are ppl who are good at reading that kind of stuff. Regardless though, Dan has a superb point as to Materazzi getting owned worldwide.

On a side note, Materazzi in Polish loosely means Mattress. So like stated he got knocked the fuck down.

Soy and Outsider posting their conspiracy theory "links."

Shame on you for thinking the news media has any reason to tell the truth about a sporting event.

Shit, this might be the greatest cover-up attempt since Watergate.

shhh dont get HG involved :bitchslp:

There is talk of reversing the win... which for the record I think is bullshit even though I don't actually care all that much.

Athleticism and racism are two separate issues. Sportsmanship on the other hand has everything to do with it I suppose. Either way Italy won fair and square in my opinion.

I don’t think there should be any punishment

Trash talking is a part of sport. In a competition like that the adrenaline is pumping, your mind is functioning on different level then it normally is. Some people will do anything to get an edge. Plus a sport like soccer which is non contact, you never get to let the aggression out properly (unless you headbutt people)

If it’s true that he said those things, then I don’t agree with that type of behaviour and would never do it personally, but to punish it would set a ridiculous standard. Lip readers would all over sport, they would try and monitor all trash talking for unsportsmanlike behaviour, etc.

Political correctness has gone mad in all other areas of our lives, I don’t think we should let it happen to our sport

One guy said something offensive to another, the other guy kicked his ass for having a big mouth. Life is a bitch, get a helmet.

How does Zidane's expulsion from the game come up when asked what to do about Materazzi?

Seriously, Zidane should have very little to do with this thread.

Im sorry, when you name a thread, " Zidane, Materazzi racism and expulsion."

I would assume, but im just assuming here, that Zidane would be in the topic of conversation..no?

You said, that if i want to bitch about him i should do it in the OT forums..whats this political place about..non bitching..because all the posts would be gone.

I guess some people think its alright to hit someone in a non-full contact sport because of shit talking. I hope none of you EVER play in a team game outside the computer/gaming world, because that is all there is. And im sorry but if you head butt someone or even shove them then you will be out of the game, and no crying saying, "well he called me a terrorist so i hit him." will be heard.

Italy won, so leave it alone. Materazzi should be left alone, because like dan said, he did get knocked over by a cheap shot, on TV seen around the globe, thats bad enough. ANd to see Zidane get the award is even worse.

I mentioned Zidane because he was a part of it. He was however sent out of the game and thus had been punished so there is no more what-if on his part. So yeah, if you want to bitch about Zidane this isn't the place for it. My opening post put it into context.

So you can put words in my mouth, and you did, as you can also assume I am trying to attack Materazzi, which I'm not. In fact if you took the few moments it would take to read the thread you would see that I said in very clear words that I don't think the win should be revresed or that he should even be punished.

However whether he should or should not be punished IS the subject of this thread and if you don't like that you can make your own.

I think what outsider is trying to say is that no one is debating that the head butt was wrong. It’s against the rules. He was sent off for it.
What we are talking about is whether the fact that whether or not Materazzi should be punished for his abusive behaviour

EDIT: Nvmind, see outsiders post
